Bathrooms & shower rooms

Bathrooms and shower rooms, planned around the room you actually have

Elegant villa bathrooms and practical apartment shower rooms start the same way: a conversation about the room, then a proper look at what's behind the tiles.

Behind the picture

What a beautiful photograph can't tell us

A picture shows finishes. Whether that look works in your bathroom depends on six things nobody can see in it.
a.Waterproofing
What sits behind and beneath the tiles, and what the shower area needs.
b.Drainage
Where the waste can run, with what fall, and whether a level shower is feasible.
c.Floor levels
The existing floor build-up decides tray heights and thresholds.
d.Ventilation
Windows, extractors and where moist air actually goes.
e.Electrical safety
Zones around water for lighting, mirrors, towel rails and sockets.
f.Removing a bath
Who uses the room, how, and what the space allows instead.

These are assessed for the specific room, usually from photos and measurements and then in person. We won't give technical or legal assurances from a description alone.

Assessment in plain language

How we look at a bathroom

  1. 1

Your photos and a few measurements

The current room, the floor, the ceiling, the window and the door. Rough numbers are fine.

  2. 2

    What you want to change

Keep the layout, change the bath for a shower, add storage, change everything.

  3. 3

A look at the room itself

Usually a visit, to check drainage, levels, ventilation and access before anything is quoted.

  4. 4

    A written scope

What is included, what is separately quoted, and who is responsible for each part.

Where supported, scope can cover

  • Removal of the existing bathroom
  • Preparation of walls and floors
  • Plumbing coordination
  • Waterproofing
  • Tiling
  • Sanitaryware fitting
  • Ventilation
  • Lighting interfaces
  • Finishing and handover

Which of these we carry out directly is confirmed per project. Specialist work is identified and quoted separately where needed.

Who supplies what

Products, design and installation can come from different places

Products
Tiles, tray, taps, sanitaryware. Chosen by you, or discussed with us.
Design
The layout and look. Your idea, a designer’s plan or a conversation.
Installation
The work in the room. Responsibilities written into the scope.

It isn't a retail package, so we'll always say who is responsible for which part.

A low shower tray is not the same as an accessible shower

Accessibility depends on the person using the room and the actual installation: space to turn, grab rails and what they fix to, seating, controls and thresholds. If that's what you need, tell us who the bathroom is for and we'll talk it through properly rather than use a label.

Bathroom questions

What people usually want to know

Often that is the simplest route, because the existing waste and supply positions can be reused. Whether they should be reused depends on their condition, which is part of the assessment.

Photos of the room and the floor, rough measurements, and who uses the bathroom. Drainage fall and floor levels decide what kind of shower is feasible, so we look at those before suggesting anything.

Stairs, lifts, parking and building rules affect how materials come in and waste goes out, and sometimes the working hours. In apartments, check whether your community needs notice.

It depends on whether there is another bathroom, the scope of works and how long the room is out of use. We discuss this openly rather than promise a fixed answer.

This site does not sell products. Whether products come from you, a supplier you choose or through us is agreed for each project and written into the scope.

If water is appearing where it shouldn't, CostaTrace focuses on leak investigation within the group.

Tell us about your bathroom, the property and the area.

Start by sharing your room, broad area and what you want to change. Photos and rough measurements help establish what needs discussing; a photograph alone is not a quotation.
